Events & Activities
Here are some events being run in schools across Queensland.
McChappy Week at McDonald’s
Some school communities are being urged to visit their local McDonald's during the allocated McChappy Day during Chappy Week. Funds raised will help support local chaplains. Not all McDonald’s restaurants are involved. Chaplains will inform students and parents if their local McDonald's restaurants are involved in Chappy Week.
Chappy-cinos at The Coffee Club
Some school communities are being urged to visit their local Coffee Club during Chappy Week. Funds raised will help support the local chaplains. Some Coffee Clubs are selling special Chappy-cinos (cappuccinos) &/or hosting Chappy Hour (3-4pm Monday to Friday). A portion from sales that week will go towards supporting the local chaplaincy service. Some are also running breakfast fundraisers. Not all Coffee Club cafes are involved. Chaplains will inform students and parents if their local Coffee Club cafe is involved in Chappy Week.
Breakfast Launches – Monday 17th
These Breakfast Launches will showcase what many chaplains do each week. Local community leaders (including politicians and business leaders) and business leaders will help serve breakfast to students.
Day of Honour – any day
Many chaplains and students across the state will run this activity to thank and honour their school staff for their service to young people and families in the community. Many will host a morning tea for staff and present the Principal & staff with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Chappy Challenge – any day
Students will be challenging their chaplain to complete weird and wonderful tasks. Each challenge will be as varied as the students’ imaginations... and the chaplain’s courage. Some Chappy Challenges will be conducted in front of the school assembly, others on the sports oval, and others will be broadcast through a local radio station.
